Almost Good Enough to Eat – DIY Herbal Scrubs and Body Wraps at the Spa at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai

Fresh, all-natural ingredients combine to make healthy products that can be enjoyed at the Spa, or at home

Chiang Mai, Thailand – 2012-12-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — Thailand has long been synonymous with wellness. Whether it’s traditional Thai massage or hot herbal poultices, Thai wellness traditions stretch back centuries. One of the reasons these wellness therapies are considered to be so effective is because they make use of local, natural products, including many of the same ingredients one finds in Thai cuisine and in many Thai gardens.

The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is now bringing these herbs out of the garden and into the Spa in a new program that lets guests create their own natural, fresh Spa products, and learn about the benefits of the ingredients along the way.

Guests have the option of creating two natural Spa products – the Thai Herbal Wrap, designed to stimulate blood circulation and to have a smoothing effect on the skin, and the Rice and Spice Body Scrub, made with a combination of spices to give the skin a soft, glowing, youthful look. All of the ingredients used are 100 percent natural, and include items such as kaffir lime, fresh lemongrass, and ground rice, all selected for their own particular health benefits.

Thai Herbal Wrap – Featuring a combination of prai root known for its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to nourish the skin; lemongrass known for its uplifting aroma as well as its anti-oxidant and astringent properties; fresh kaffir lime; and purfiying Thai mountain clay, the Thai Herbal Wrap stimulates circulation and leaves the skin nourished and smoothed.

Rice and Spice Body Scrub – Including a combination of nourishing prai root; anti-oxidant ginger known for its ability to prevent premature skin ageing; sandalwood to promote soft skin and to reduce blemishes; clove known for its rich scent and antiseptic properties; turmeric for a natural golden glow; and exfoliating crushed rice, the Rice and Spice Body Scrub helps to warm the muscles and polish the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth with a youthful glow.

Each 30-minute “DIY” session is priced at THB 900.00, subject to government tax and service charge. Guests then have the option of taking their homemade scrub or wrap back home with them or, perhaps the best option, indulging themselves with a treatment at the Spa with the products they’ve just made. After all that hard work making the products, it’s definitely a well-deserved treat.
