Many exclusive treats for passengers big and small with Disney’s fun new film ‘Planes’ / Airline premiere on board Europe’s ‘family airline’
2013-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — In the run-up to the new Disney 3D animation film ‘Planes’, from 17 July Lufthansa will be offering its passengers, both big and small, a range of new services that are guaranteed to make the journey fly by. To mark the upcoming release of the film on 29 August, the airline has teamed up with Disney to devise competitions, creative catering and a wide range of in-flight entertainment options that will both amuse and create excitement about Disney’s latest film.
‘Planes’ is about a small propeller plane, Dusty, who wants to take part in the world’s most famous aeroplane race even though he is afraid of heights. The film, which builds on the success of the animation movie ‘Cars’, takes the audience on a journey to seven exciting locations around the world: the USA, Iceland, Germany, India, China, Nepal and Mexico are all on the itinerary.
Win a family weekend trip to Disneyland® Paris
As part of its collaboration with Disney, Lufthansa has created its own website for the film. Until mid-September all of the locations from the film – the USA, Iceland, Germany, India, China and Mexico – that Lufthansa flies to will be introduced one by one as travel destinations on www.lufthansa.com/planes. For each destination, the website contains information specially researched for families and also includes an online game where players have a chance to win fan packages and a number of weekend trips for families to Disneyland® Paris, including flights and accommodation. In addition, the site offers lots of tips on travelling with children and contains trailers and background information about the film.
The partnership will also involve a wide-ranging social media campaign. From the end of August, children will be able to ask questions about the fascinating topic of flying, which will be answered by Lufthansa experts in a child-friendly, interactive format.
Lots of ‘Planes’ specials on board
The stars of ‘Planes’ will soon be found on board all Lufthansa flights. Flight attendants will be ready to hand out a ‘Planes’ magazine specially created for Lufthansa as well as a range of toys for children.
Under the slogan ‘Little flier. Big dreams. So much fun.’, Lufthansa will be exclusively showing the new Disney film ‘Planes’ before any other airline in its in-flight programme on long-haul routes from the expected date of 1 October, providing both young and old with a travel experience that offers even greater variety. ‘Planes’ trailers and short films will also be available on the in-flight entertainment system, while children will be greeted from their tray place mats by the film stars of the new Lufthansa Kids Menu.
The Kids’ Menus are sure to get children’s hearts racing, too, and offer them even more entertainment. Here, they will find colouring-in games, puzzles and fun illustrations of meals to build their appetites. The recipes of the meals served will also be provided so that they can be cooked again at home. The tasty treats created by Lufthansa’s chefs will definitely make young passengers’ mouths water. Dishes such as ‘Aeroplanes in Pasta Heaven’ or ‘Propeller Meatballs’ will ensure that the excitement of flying stays with them while they eat. These dishes will be followed by desserts with the captivating names ‘Flying Pancake’ or ‘Butterfly Waffle’. ‘Planes’ serviettes and wet wipes in Business and Economy Class complete the special range.
Children who visit the JetFriends children’s lounge for First and Business Class passengers or the supervision areas for children travelling by themselves will even have an opportunity before the flight to play with cuddly toys, jigsaw puzzles and figures from the film.
