2012-12-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — At its Berlin hub, airberlin is continuing the expansion of its Eastern European range and is adding flights to Bucharest and Sofia to the flight schedule from 28th January 2013. Once a day airberlin starts to the Romanian and Bulgarian capital.
“One of our stated goals for 2013 is to further strengthen airberlin as a network carrier. Adaptation of our network strategy is an important part of this. With the new flights from Berlin to Bucharest and Sofia, we are offering our flight guests from Berlin a total of nine destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. Travellers from Bucharest and Sofia have access to our international route network via Berlin,” said Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Chief Strategy and Network Planning Officer airberlin.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, board spokesman for Berlin Brandenburg Airport GmbH, added: “The new flights to Sofia and Bucharest are an important addition to the Eastern European offering, especially for business travellers. Travellers from Bulgaria and Romania can transfer in Berlin and continue on airberlin flights all over the world.”
In addition to Bucharest and Sofia, airberlin’s non-stop destinations from Berlin to Central and Eastern Europe include the cities of Gdansk, Krakow, Kaliningrad, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Budapest. Warsaw will also be included from 23rd March. Feeder flights are available from many cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as from European and worldwide destinations in the airberlin route network.
