airberlin ‘Help & Fly’ fundraising event: Take a flight, have a party and help people

2012-11-26 — /travelprnews.com/ — On 24th November 2012 an airberlin Airbus A330-300 took off from Dusseldorf for a fifteenth successive charity round trip on the occasion of the 25th World AIDS Day.

On board, the guests were entertained with cabaret from Käthe Köstlich and the Merz & Pilini variety circus who also added their charm and fun in assisting the cabin crew with their service. Also on board the one-and-a-half hour flight were celebrities such as Kalle Pohl, Ayman, Jörg Knör, Marcus Becker, Achim and Olli and the Dusseldorf Carnival King and Queen.

After landing, Tobias Hundhausen, Senior Vice President Production at airberlin technik GmbH, presented the cheque for the donation of 35.000 euros to Peter von der Forst, the chief executive of the Dusseldorf AIDS charity ‘AIDS-Hilfe Düsseldorf eV’, on the airberlin stage. The announcement by Tobias Hundhausen that the ‘Help & Fly’ charity event would continue next year was met with much applause.

Lots of musical entertainment was the order of the day for the show that followed at Dusseldorf airport. Armando Lucio, a flight attendant with airberlin, and Carinia Münz made an appearance singing ‘Flying Home for Christmas’ and helped to spread some pre-Christmas spirit. Other highlights were the appearance of the electro-pop duo ‘Glasperlenspiel’, hits from the German musical ‘Ich war noch niemals in New York’ (I have never been to New York) as well as sets by the comedian Jörg Knör and the soul singer Ayman.

Over the last fourteen years, these fundraising events have raised over 600,000 euros for people infected with HIV or who have developed AIDS. No other company supports the charity ‘Aids Hilfe Düsseldorf’ more than airberlin.
