Air France promotes inclusion and diversity during International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia

PARIS, France, 2019-May-22 — /Travel PR News/ — On May 17, 2019, the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia is an opportunity for Air France to illustrate its commitment and the concrete actions it is taking to promote inclusion and diversity.

  • Signing of the association l’Autre Cercle’s LGBT+ commitment charter;
  • Raising awareness among company staff at a ‘Rainbow Morning’, in the presence of numerous associations;
  • Special LGBT friendly flights in June between Paris and San Francisco;
  • Participation in the Pride March, on June 29th in Paris;
  • Active support of the association ‘Le Refuge’ and ‘Personn’Ailes’, the LGBT and gay friendly association of Air France employees.

A day for inclusion and diversity

On May 17, for the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia, Air France is inviting its employees to a ‘Rainbow Morning’ at its offices in Roissy, to exchange and share ideas and experiences, in the presence of several associations and with the exceptional participation of Muriel Robin, sponsor of the association ‘Le Refuge’.

On this occasion, Air France CEO Anne Rigail will sign the association l’Autre Cercle’s LGBT+ commitment charter, which fights against discrimination linked to sexual orientation and gender identity and provides a formal framework by including the LGBT+ theme in a policy to promote diversity.

Also on the agenda this morning:

  • a round table discussion on government policy and the actions of associations against homophobia, in the presence of the associations ‘Inter-LGBT’ and ‘SOS Homophobie’;
  • a round table discussion on actions carried out within companies, with the Air France LGBT association ‘Personn’Ailes’, the Air France Diversity Association and the Homoboulot Association;
  • a round table discussion on the theme “accompanying young people and families”, with the associations ‘Le Refuge’, ‘Contact’ and the crew of the special LGBT friendly flights.

A commitment against all forms of discrimination

Flying the rainbow flag between Paris and San Francisco

To celebrate Gay Pride in San Francisco and the LGBT Pride March in Paris, Air France is operating two special LGBT friendly flights: flight AF084 on June 28, 2019 from Pari-Charles de Gaulle to San Francisco and flight AF083 on June 30, 2019 from San Francisco to Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

On board, a charity sale of items will take place in aid of the association ‘Le Refuge’, whose role is to support and provide accommodation for the young gay, lesbian and transgender population living in precarious conditions. This operation is carried out in partnership with the Air France Foundation, which supports children and young people in need in all the countries where the company operates.

A film presenting ‘Le Refuge’ and LGBT-themed films will also be shown as part of the inflight entertainment.

Flight schedules (in local time):

  • flight AF084 on June 28: leaves Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 10:20, arrives in San Francisco at 12:45;
  • flight AF083 on June 30: leaves San Francisco at 15:20, arrives at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 11:05 the following day.

The French association ‘Le Refuge’ is a structure approved by the French State, which offers temporary accommodation and social, medical, psychological and legal support to young victims of homophobia or transphobia. To find out more, go to https://www.le-refuge.org.

Supporting Personn’Ailes at the Pride March

On June 29, Air France will be supporting the LGBT and gay-friendly association of Air France employees, Personn’Ailes, at the LGBT Pride March in Paris. Air France is providing financial support for the event and will display the colours of the rainbow as an avatar on its Facebook and Twitter accounts. A ‘Personn’Ailes’ float will lead the procession between Place de la Concorde and Place de la République and goodies will be handed out to spectators.
