Abu Dhabi Airports Company launched four month staff summer safety and heat awareness campaign

Part of ADAC’s initiatives to protect the well-being of its employees serving the Capital’s airports

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2013-06-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has launched its comprehensive four month staff summer safety and heat awareness campaign, to ensure that employees have the knowledge and tools they need to work safely during the hot summer months.

The multifaceted campaign, delivered by the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), the training arm for ADAC, involves training sessions to teach outdoor working employees how to work safely in over forty degree heat.

The ‘Beat the Heat’ training sessions were recently held at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain International Airport and Al Bateen Executive Airport.  These training sessions, conducted in four different languages – English, Arabic, Urdu and Hindi, focused on raising awareness about the health risks associated with working under direct heat, and what steps should be taken to reduce these risks.  Participating employees were also provided with heat mitigation gear.  ADAC has also increased the number of drinking water points at its airports to encourage outdoor working employees to say hydrated.

Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer of ADAC, commented: “ADAC is deeply committed to ensuring that employees are protected while on the job by following high standards in safety compliance, and the ‘Beat the Heat’ campaign is fundamental to ADAC’s objectives to be a leader in workplace safety.  ADAC continuously re-calibrates its health and safety best practices to maintain a secure and hazard free work environment under all environmental conditions, and to maintain the status of being a world-class airport operator.”
