SANTA MONICA, Calif., 2018-Nov-08 — /Travel PR News/ — Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) is proud to announce the launch of Santa MoniCARES, a coalition of SMTT representatives and community partners seeking to harness the hospitable nature and generosity of Santa Monica’s tourism industry to provide support to the city’s local nonprofit agencies.
Santa MoniCARES will engage employees of hotels, restaurants, attractions, retailers and more to provide volunteer hours, funding and support to the incredible organizations that are tackling vital issues affecting the community including homelessness, environmental protection, hunger, workforce development, cultural programming, at-risk youth, elderly assistance, and more.
“Members of the hospitality and tourism industry have long been generous supporters of the Santa Monica community contributing to the well-being of residents in a variety of ways,” said Misti Kerns, President/CEO of SMTT. “Santa MoniCARES will allow our industry to come together with greater strength and give back to those in need with a unified presence.”
As the entity’s first initiative, Santa MoniCARES will host a gently used clothing drive to benefit Chrysalis-Santa Monica, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment.
From November 1 through December 9, 2018 Santa MoniCARES will collect new or gently used professional clothing including clean and ready-to-wear suits, pants, blazers, blouses, skirts and dresses. Donated clothing should be appropriate to wear to a job interview and work.
Donations can be dropped off at Santa Monica Travel & Tourism’s Main Street Visitor Center, located at 2427 Main Street, Santa Monica 90405. Santa MoniCARES is offering text ahead curbside pick-up. Text (424) 443-8830 15 minutes ahead of your arrival and one of SMTT’s friendly staff members will come out and unload your vehicle.
With this clothing drive, Santa MoniCARES aims to help individuals achieve economic independence by providing professional attire to support Chrysalis’ efforts to achieve self-sufficiency through employment.
