GBTA announced the creation of Energy, Resource & Marine Task Force

Energy, Resources & Marine Sector To Receive Formal Focus by Association

Alexandria, VA, 2013-07-05 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) — the voice of the global business travel industry —today announced the creation of an Energy, Resource & Marine Task Force structure to develop educational content, research and membership for travel professionals in this sector.

The Association is establishing two task forces, divided by global regions and time zones, to work independently and develop suggested remits, objectives, timescales and working methodologies within nine months of their creation, with a view to creating a formal committee structure for the sector within GBTA.

Jeannie Eisenhart, Director, Corporate Travel & Meetings for Crowley Maritime Corporation based in the USA, has accepted the role to Chair Task Force Alpha, which will cover North America, Latin America and Australasia.  Mette Christensen, Global Head of Travel and Related Activities from
A.P. Møller – Mærsk in Denmark, has accepted the role to chair Task Force Beta, which will cover Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

The organization is now in the process of extending invitations to task force participants and will also be accepting nominations from other GBTA members.

The preliminary findings of the Task Force Beta will be presented at the GBTA Oil, Gas & Marine Travel Symposium in Denmark in October while the preliminary findings of Task Force Alpha will be presented at the GBTA Oil, Gas & Marine Travel Symposium in Houston, Texas in November.  The full findings as well as the committee structure will be presented the following year at the GBTA Convention 2014 being held in Los Angeles, CA.

Talking about the creation of the task forces, Kevin Maguire, President of GBTA said,” The creation of sector specific committees to drive more relevant content to travel professionals globally has been a strategy of GBTA’s for some time and we have had great success in the government and sports sectors in particular. The energy, resource and marine sector is a fast growing and high margin travel sector which experiences particular nuances in areas such as air distribution, health & safety, risk and payment solutions.  Our events have been highly successful and it’s natural for us to develop our work in this area to provide more value to members in this sector.”

GBTA has undertaken new energy, resource and marine events in Perth, Australia last year and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in February of this year in addition to its European and USA events.  It presents its African event for this sector in Cape Town tomorrow and plans to introduce one in Calgary, Canada in 2014.
