(PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG, 2025-May-29 — /Travel PR News/ — Cathay Pacific is thrilled to announce the launch of its “Chinese Classics” inflight dining offerings, a new addition to the airline’s Business class service. Unveiled at a special tasting event on May 28, 2025, the new menu draws inspiration from the Eight Great Cuisines of China, offering passengers an authentic culinary journey that celebrates China’s rich gastronomic heritage. Complementing Cathay Pacific’s existing “Hong Kong Flavours” and “International Favourites” menus, the “Chinese Classics” collection aims to deliver an unparalleled culinary experience, reinforcing the airline’s leadership in inflight dining innovation.

Cathay Pacific has long championed the cultural diversity of Chinese cuisine, and the introduction of the “Chinese Classics” menu is a testament to the airline’s commitment to connecting passengers to the rich culinary traditions of China. This new offering features an array of dishes from China’s eight regional cuisines—Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Anhui, and Hunan—infusing every meal with the unique flavors and cultural stories that have shaped Chinese culinary arts for centuries.

The development of this new menu involved extensive research into the flavor profiles, ingredients, and cooking methods of each region. Cathay Pacific’s culinary team worked diligently to refine the recipes and ensure that each dish retains its authenticity and visual appeal when served at high altitudes. The team’s meticulous attention to detail ensures that passengers can enjoy both the traditional tastes and the vibrant presentation that define Chinese culinary excellence.

“We are thrilled to introduce the ‘Chinese Classics’ menu, which adds to our already popular ‘Hong Kong Flavours’ and ‘International Favourites’ offerings,” said Erica Peng, Director of Customer Travel at Cathay Pacific. “Each dish has been thoughtfully crafted to showcase China’s culinary heritage, with a perfect balance of flavor and presentation. We hope these iconic dishes will offer a taste of home for our customers and enhance their journey with us.”

Starting in April 2025, the “Chinese Classics” menu will be gradually introduced in Cathay Pacific’s Business class cabins, initially available on selected outbound flights from Hong Kong to the Chinese Mainland. A new dish will be introduced each month, providing customers with a fresh and authentic taste of Chinese cuisine. This year, the menu will feature dishes from Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, with a complete rollout of all eight regional cuisines expected by 2026.

To further enhance the cultural experience, Cathay Pacific will release a three-part documentary series in July, delving into the design concepts, cultural roots, and creative processes behind the dishes. The documentary will offer customers an in-depth look at the craftsmanship and heritage of Chinese culinary culture.

Cathay Pacific is also expanding its “Hong Kong Flavours” menu across all cabins and lounges, offering special Chinese wines and teas to complement the culinary experience. This move is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to enhance its inflight offerings and solidify its position as a global leader in premium inflight dining.

Cathay Pacific continues to invest in its products and services, with over HK$100 billion dedicated to upgrading its fleet, cabin products, lounges, and digital services. The airline’s global network expansion aims to reach 100 destinations by the first half of 2025. On the ground, the airline has recently revamped The Bridge at Hong Kong International Airport and is preparing to open a flagship lounge in Beijing this summer, with plans for a new lounge at New York’s JFK Airport in 2026.

By August 2025, Cathay Pacific will also offer enhanced inflight entertainment and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity across its entire fleet, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for its passengers.

Cathay Pacific’s “Chinese Classics” menu is just the beginning of an exciting culinary journey, as the airline looks forward to continuing its exploration of authentic dining experiences. The airline is committed to refining its offerings and sharing the unique charm of Chinese culture with its international customers, providing them with an immersive, world-class dining experience every time they fly.
