SAN JOSE, 2012-09-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is ranked the best airport in California for on-time performance for medium to large size airports, according to data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (www.transtats.bts.gov). Oakland International Airport ranked fifth in the state, while San Francisco International Airport came in last with the worst on-time performance for airports throughout California.
“With a great airfield providing ample runway and taxiway capacity, new modern, state-of-the-art terminal complex, and over 300 days a year of sunshine, one would only expect our on-time performance to be exemplary,” said Bill Sherry, Director of Aviation at SJC. “All of these things allow our airlines to run more efficiently and provide more reliable service to our passengers. With this incredible advantage to airlines and their passengers, we hope to attract more air service to Silicon Valley’s Airport.”
For medium to large size airports in the United States, SJC tied with Minneapolis-St. Paul for fourth overall. Kahului Airport on Maui ranked first, followed by Salt Lake City International and Portland International. Among Bay Area airports, Oakland ranked 17th in the nation, Sacramento International Airport ranked 20th, and SFO ranked 64th out of the 65 major airports in the U.S.
