Celebrate Milton S. Hershey’s 155th Birthday

New Documentary on Chocolate Making in Hershey
Includes a Look into the Future

Hershey, Pa., 2012-08-24 — /travelprnews.com/ —On Thursday, September 13, residents of and visitors to Hershey are invited to celebrate the birthday of chocolate magnate Milton S. Hershey, who was born on September 13, 1857.

The Hershey Company and The M.S. Hershey Foundation will collaborate to honor Mr. Hershey’s legacy, while providing a look forward through the new film “Hershey’s Next Century: Bringing Goodness to the World.” This documentary-style film pays tribute to the legacy of chocolate-making in Hershey, while providing a glimpse into 21st century manufacturing in the newly expanded West Hershey Plant.

Several of the town’s attractions plan to celebrate on September 13, including:
Hershey Gardens

On September 13, guests will receive $2 off general admission to Hershey Gardens. The Gardens is in the midst of celebrating its 75th anniversary season and will feature plenty of late-summer blooms throughout its 23 acres.

The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue
On September 13, the community is invited to visit The Hershey Story’s Museum Experience, free of charge between 2 and 6 p.m., compliments of The Hershey Company.

The museum’s Chocolate Lab will host special “Celebration Truffles” classes that day. Participants can learn about Milton Hershey’s success in both chocolate and caramels while creating their own rich chocolate-caramel truffles.

In celebration of this occasion, the museum’s collections team will exhibit two display cases featuring chocolate molds and packaging for products made at the original chocolate factory. This temporary exhibit will be on display in the Grand Lobby of the museum beginning Tuesday, September 11 and continuing through Sunday, September 16.

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park
On September 13, ZooAmerica will offer guests a special admission rate of $5. ZooAmerica began as Hershey Zoo in 1910, when Milton Hershey formally organized his park’s growing collection of animals into a public zoo. Today, it is home to more than 200 animals representing more than 60 North American species.
