(PRESS RELEASE) OAKLOAND, CA, 2025-Jul-4 — /Travel PR News/ — Volaris, Mexico’s largest low-cost carrier, has inaugurated its first nonstop service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Zacatecas, Mexico (ZCL). This new route expands Volaris’s Mexican network from OAK to six destinations and complements Volaris El Salvador’s existing link to San Salvador. Flights will operate three times weekly—Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—and passengers were welcomed with a celebratory gate-side event.

Craig Simon, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, remarked, “We’re grateful to Volaris for continually enhancing its service at OAK. Nonstop connections to Mexico are invaluable to our Bay Area community, and we look forward to introducing Zacatecas visitors to all the Bay Area offers—because flying through OAK truly is the best gateway to the San Francisco Bay.”

Service details are as follows:

Southbound (OAK → ZCL): Departs 1:15 PM, arrives 5:46 PM

Northbound (ZCL → OAK): Departs 9:01 AM, arrives 11:45 AM

Jorge Roberto García Rojas, Volaris’s Director of Distribution and Market Development, added, “Linking Oakland to the historic city of Zacatecas furthers our mission to diversify route options and better serve travelers on both sides of the border.”

Nestled at 8,000 feet in Mexico’s Bajío highlands, Zacatecas boasts a UNESCO-designated historic center rich in Spanish Baroque architecture, atmospheric cobblestone streets, and panoramic views. Volaris will deploy its modern Airbus A320neo family aircraft on the route, offering passengers choices such as premium seating, assigned seats, and a variety of à la carte food and beverage selections.
