(NEWS) LAS VEGAS, NV, 2025-Oct-13 — /Travel PR News/ — As aviation safety takes center stage amid a year marked by several high-profile incidents, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has launched a major new resource aimed at advancing safety learning across the sector. The Spotlight on Safety Accident Compendium, unveiled during the 2025 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), delivers an in-depth analysis of 15 significant business aircraft accidents, offering insights based on National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) data and established accident investigation methodologies.
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen noted that recent incidents underscore the persistence of longstanding safety challenges, emphasizing the need for continuous learning from real-world events. With a foreword written by former NTSB Chair and respected safety advocate Robert Sumwalt, the compendium explores common factors contributing to accidents, including flight crew distractions, procedural non-compliance, and sudden weather deterioration — each with lessons that can help reduce risks in business aviation.
The compendium will be distributed at several key NBAA-BACE safety-focused events designed to foster best practices and operational excellence. These include the 2025 NBAA Single-Pilot Safety Standdown, themed “Threat Rich Environment: Navigating Today’s Challenges for the Single-Pilot Operator,” which takes place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13. The session will explore single-pilot fatigue management, aircraft transitions, and key threats and lessons learned from recent incidents. Later that afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., the 2025 NBAA Small Operator Symposium will focus on building stronger safety cultures, operational insights, and innovations for small flight departments. The series concludes with the 2025 NBAA National Safety Forum, developed by the NBAA Safety Committee, which features discussions on emerging safety developments, top industry risks, and actionable safety strategies informed by real-world cases.
Industry observers have praised NBAA’s initiative as an important contribution to transparency and data-driven learning across business aviation. Safety experts emphasize that open analysis of accident data, when combined with continuous education, helps foster a proactive safety culture and significantly lowers the likelihood of recurrence.
The publication also aligns with NBAA’s broader safety agenda, which this year has featured multiple initiatives aimed at elevating operational safety standards. These include the Is it Safe to Fly? webinar bringing together safety leaders to discuss data sharing and technology adoption, Ed Bolen’s congressional testimony urging the expansion of the FAA’s Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program, and NBAA’s participation in both the FAA’s Call to Action gathering and the AOPA-led National Pause for GA Safety program.
Looking ahead, NBAA intends to continually update the compendium as new data and insights emerge, transforming lessons from past events into practical guidance for the future of business aviation safety. Through this sustained effort, the association reaffirms its leadership in shaping a global culture of vigilance, data-informed learning, and operational excellence.
