The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will host Boo at the Zoo for Halloween

Powell, OH, 2015-10-15 — /Travel PR News/ — The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will host Boo at the Zoo for all the Halloween fun without the fright during two weekends in October.

Presented by Diet Pepsi, Boo at the Zoo will offer all-new attractions this year in five themed areas throughout the Zoo: Sugar Patch Place, Super Hero Lagoon, Frogwortz, Eerie Shores and Pumpkin Junction. All the ‘spooktacular’ happenings will take place on Oct. 16-18 and 23-25.

Sugar Patch Place will celebrate all that is sweet about Halloween. Families can take a self-guided tour of Candy Mansion as well as explore a mini maze of hay featuring favorite Disney Villians, presented by Disney on Ice Let’s Celebrate. Plus enjoy the baked goods at Bakersfield Zoo, a giant gingerbread-themed display featuring Zoo animals.

Super Hero Lagoon is the perfect stop for the little heroes and heroines in the family. Catch a live-action superhero show at the Animals on Safari Stage featuring Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Ant-Man as they defend the world from the Green Goblin! This action-packed performance takes place nightly during Boo at the Zoo at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. A catered daytime showing will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25. This Super Hero Lunch must be reserved in advance and tickets are available for purchase at ColumbusZoo.org

The popular Frogwartz Academy returns to Asia Quest and adds a dash of magic to the Halloween celebration. Guests can be sorted into their houses, walk the halls of the late, great wizards as well as learn from them during the Wizardry 101 class performed by The Otterbein University Theatre students.

At Eerie Shores, The Otterbein University Theatre students will inspire young buccaneers to join their crew at the pirate skull session. Step into Discovery Reef and hear the tales of the deep from our bone-chilling diver demonstration. Then take a spin on the Carousel of the Caribbean where guests can ride their own version of a “sea horse” alongside pirates.

North America will be transformed into Pumpkin Junction. The all-new, free Hanna’s Hay Ride will transport guests from Pumpkin Junction at Polar Frontier to Super Hero Lagoon on a tractor pulled trailer with spooky Halloween tales told along the way. Climb aboard Pumpkin Junction Express train ride and visit the Oak Ridge Bears Halloween Hoedown for some toe-tappin’ musical fun.

The rest of the park will be enchanted with other merry, not scary, attractions. Including several treat station clusters throughout the park. Plus, the animals will receive their very own treats during the Pumpkin Smash! Then, hear firsthand from our animal care team members during the Keeper Talks held throughout the day. A schedule of activities will be available at the Zoo’s entrance.

Regular Zoo favorites such as the Animals Encounters Village will have special Halloween themed shows and Animals on Safari will delight visitors with amazing animal antics. Boo at the Zoo also marks the last weekends to visit seasonal attractions, such as the hair-raising rides at Jungle Jack’s Landing, the new Pirate Island, as well as Heart of Africa. This African region does not have a close date and will remain open, depending on the weather.

Boo at the Zoo will also be crawling with photo opportunities, from selfies with superheroes to striking a pose with costumed character ambassadors. Guests younger than 13 years old and their guardians are encouraged to wear costumes however, adults cannot wear costumes that cover their faces.
