The American Hotel & Lodging Association Annual Summer Summit Heads to Denver

Conference features mid-year statistics/social data trends, a special meeting of members, and national awards

2013-05-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) annual Summer Summit, held June 18-19 at The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa in Denver, Colorado, will include a session featuring top-line forecasting and social data trends, a special meeting of members to vote on a proposed membership model, and the popular Stars of the Industry Awards luncheon, which honors exemplary employees and programs.

Lindsay Culbreath, senior director of business development, STR, and Kristin Muhlner, CEO, newBrandAnalytics, will provide a mid-year overview to assist hoteliers in managing their hotels’ performance.  Culbreath will share current hotel performance and forecasts, while Muhlner will discuss review sites that are gaining greater mindshare, key topics and themes gaining traction among guests, and ways data can inform and predict common measures of demand and yield.

The annual Stars of the Industry Awards luncheon honors outstanding lodging employees and properties across the country, as well as Educational Institute award recipients.  Annual awards are presented to notable hotel employees, managers, and general managers across the nation, and to hotels for innovative and successful programs in community service, guest relations, special events, diversity, eco-friendly practices, and information technology.

Additionally, some of AH&LA’s 30+ specialized committees, comprised of top-level hoteliers, management companies, and other representatives from the diverse lodging industry, will host meetings critical in strategically planning industry-wide programs and initiatives.  Of particular note will be the AH&LA board meeting and the Annual Meeting of Members, which will include a presentation and vote on AH&LA’s proposed structure, bylaws, and funding model.  President/CEO Katherine Lugar also will share an update on the changes underway and the association’s new strategic focus of advocacy and communications.

AH&LA Summit partners include American Express, HD Supply, and Heartland Payment Systems.

Registration is $200 for AH&LA members and $400 for nonmembers.  Several events are also available for purchase a la carte.  For additional event details, please visit AH&LA’s Summer Summit Webpage at www.ahla.com/summersummit.  For more information, contact Lauren Pravlik at (202) 289-3116 or lpravlik@ahla.com.
