Miramar, Florida, 2013-02-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — Spirit Airlines’ (NASDAQ: SAVE) has launched its new Spirit Destination Give program, the latest in the airline’s many efforts of giving back to the local communities it serves. Voting opens today for a Houston charity to receive $10,000.
To kick off the program, Spirit has teamed up with a variety of organizations in the Houston area to generate awareness and support for five worthy causes, including:
- AIDS Foundation Houston
- Alzheimer’s Association
- Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston
- JDRF
- Susan G. Komen for the Cure Houston
Voting opens today at give.spirit.com/houston. The organization that receives the most votes will receive a $10,000 donation from Spirit. To participate, simply visit Spirit Destination Give at give.spirit.com/houston. Cast your vote for the cause that you want to help. You can vote for one charity per day. The current voting period is open until March 31, 2013.

Spirit recently started service at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport offering nonstop ultra low fares to Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and Las Vegas with connections available to 12 destinations throughout the Americas, including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Oakland/San Francisco, Phoenix/Mesa, Portland (Oregon), Tampa, and Toluca/Mexico City. In addition, Spirit is starting nonstop service between Houston and Orlando on February 13, 2013, and between Houston and Los Angeles on April 25, 2013.
