Skybus Launches Expanded Summer Schedule from Newquay, Boosting Connectivity to the Isles of Scilly and Beyond

The airline has recently expanded its summer schedule, transitioning from three weekly flights to two daily flights starting May 12th, with plans to add a third flight at lunchtimes from July 1st. This expansion will significantly increase connectivity, allowing passengers to easily link to flights across the UK from Newquay. The service, operated by a fleet of 17-seat DHC6 Twin Otter aircraft on a 30-minute route between Newquay and St Mary’s, is expected to see a dramatic increase in passenger numbers. This marks another milestone in the airline’s 33-year-long partnership with the airport, which dates back to June 1992 and makes Skybus the longest-serving airline at Newquay. Owned and operated by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, the airline has transported nearly 400,000 passengers on over 40,000 flights between Newquay and the Isles of Scilly.

Earlier this year, Skybus unveiled plans to significantly expand its summer schedule at Cornwall Airport Newquay. Starting May 12th, the route will increase from three weekly flights to two daily flights, Monday through Saturday, featuring both morning and afternoon departures. From July 1st, a third daily flight at lunchtime will be introduced. These changes are expected to boost passenger numbers by more than sevenfold over the summer, offering enhanced connectivity from Newquay to numerous UK destinations such as London, Manchester, and Edinburgh.

The short 30-minute journey between Newquay and St Mary’s is served by the airline’s fleet of four 17-seat DHC6 Twin Otter aircraft. Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director of Skybus, expressed pride in the airline’s longstanding service at Cornwall Airport Newquay, adding, “We are delighted to resume our flights after the winter break.
