2012-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — In the first week of the Saxon summer school holidays (23 to 29 July) there will be almost 60 flights heading south from Dresden. The most popular holiday destinations are Antalya on the Turkish Riviera, with 17 flights in the first week of the holidays alone, and Palma de Mallorca (11). Followed by Greece (8), the Canary Islands (7), Bulgaria (6), Egypt (4) and Tunisia, Hungary, Croatia and Portugal. And for those who prefer city breaks, there are non-stop flights to Basel, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne Bonn, Moscow, Munich, Stuttgart and Zurich. The airlines also offer plenty of attractive transfer options, including via Frankfurt, Düsseldorf or Cologne Bonn to the Olympic city London.
Low-cost holiday parking at the airport
There are 2,900 covered parking spaces in the airport multi-storey car park. You can park there for 7 days from €25, or for as little as €15 in the nearby outdoor car park P3. Guaranteed parking spaces can be booked online at www.dresden-airport.de. Or simply take a ticket at the entrance barrier to the car park.
Lots of service information online
Everything you need to know about your flight (e.g. evening-before check-in, parking tariffs, route planner) can be found on our website at www.dresden-airport.de. The most important information is also available in English, Czech and Polish.
Behind-the-scenes guided tours in the holidays
How high is the tower? What is the furthest you can fly from Dresden? How many planes take off and land here every day? On our exciting airport tours we answer every child’s questions about flying. During Saxony’s school summer holidays, we will be running tours daily from Monday to Friday from 23 July to 31 August. There will be a Maxi tour leaving at 09:00 (children up to age 14: €6, adults: €9) and a shorter Mini tour leaving at 11:00 (children with a holiday pass: €2, without a holiday pass: €4, adults: €6). Booking is essential: places can be booked by phoning +49 351 881 3300 (or 881 3360 on weekends).
The meeting point for Mini tours (60 min) and Maxi tours (90 min) is the airport information desk in the terminal. After a tour of the terminal building and a security check, you will be taken out onto the tarmac in the apron bus to watch aircraft being processed on the ground. You will be able to take pictures and videos of planes taking off and landing, traffic conditions permitting. On the Maxi tour you will also stop off at the airport fire station to explore and admire our fire-fighting vehicles, like the Panther 8×8.
Test run of the new Playport indoor playground
If you’re taking the kids on a guided tour of the airport, why not stop off at the new Playport indoor playground? This exciting soft play centre is the perfect place for letting off steam and for birthday parties. It is located in the former Terminal 2 and has been open since 1 July. It is currently being test run and will be officially opened on 1 September. Full details: www.playport-dresden.de
