Samui Airport earns Public Aerodrome Operating Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT)

Emphasizing its international-level operation standards

Bangkok, Thailand, 2022-Aug-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, the rightful owner of Samui Airport, led by Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President (4th from left), together with company executives, received a Public Aerodrome Operating Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), represented by Mr. Suttipong Kongpool, Director General (4th from right). The certificate presentation was held at the headquarters of CAAT. This certification not only emphasizes high-level operation standards of Samui Airport, but also demonstrates its high potential. Moreover, it exhibits the elevated potential of Bangkok Airways PLC, as the management of commercial airports in the region.

Samui Airport, under the management of Bangkok Airways PLC, is considered to be the first privately-owned commercial airport in Thailand that was issued a Public Aerodrome Operating Certificate. To receive this certification, the company had to undergo rigorous audits from CAAT including the following. Checking if the Samui airport has all the required qualifications and characteristics pursuant, such as a review of all the physical characteristics of the Samui airport and surrounding obstacles, including facilities, installations, equipment and services both normal and emergencies have met the required standards. Checking if the Samui airport has rules on the operating procedures, safety management systems, security, and quality assurance program in place; checking as well if the Samui airport has an adequate number of competent staff for the operation of the airport.

Licensed airport operators in Thailand are required to follow all the above standards in order to ensure public aerodromes meet the relevant requirements according to the guidance provided by the Civil Aviation of Thailand (CAAT) which aims to elevate Thailand air safety standards to be on the international level in all regards.
