HONG KONG, 2017-Dec-11 — /Travel PR News/ — Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® has been appointed by German real estate company Bayerische Hausbau to manage Rosewood Munich, which will open in early 2023 as the brand’s first property in Germany and seventh property in Europe. Housed in two landmark, historical buildings comprised of the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria (19th century) and the adjacent Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, a former grand aristocratic residence (early 18th century), Rosewood Munich will be ideally situated on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse in the heart of the historic city center. The hotel will be located within walking distance of several of the city’s most popular sites and destinations, including central Marienplatz square, the Residenz city palace, Bavarian State Opera, and the Maximilian- and Theatinerstraße shopping districts, as well as world renowned museums offering guests exceptional access to one of Europe’s most noteworthy travel and business destinations and important cultural capitals.
Rosewood Munich will blend the most exemplary features of traditional German architecture with modern and contemporary elements, creating a warm and convivial atmosphere that captures the spirit of the destination. The hotel will offer 132 spacious guestrooms and suites designed to complement the property’s original façade and iconic stairways, which remain well preserved and contribute to the city of Munich’s ensemble of historical buildings.
The property will boast an inviting lobby lounge and two distinct dining venues, which include a full service restaurant and a vibrant bar. Rosewood Munich will also feature a full service spa, which will house five treatments rooms, as well as an indoor pool and fitness area. Additionally, the hotel will include extensive meetings and events spaces to accommodate a variety of private gatherings, conferences, and special events for up to 400 guests.
“With its rich history and distinct culture, Munich is an ideal destination for Rosewood’s ever-expanding global portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our guiding ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy to this dynamic city,” says Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Combining the long standing traditions and heritage of Bavaria with the dynamism of modern Germany, Munich offers guests a unique glimpse into the distinct character of the region and gifts all who visit access to a fascinating European adventure, making it the perfect destination for Rosewood’s affluential explorers seeking authentic and meaningful travel experiences.”
“We are pleased to have gained an internationally renowned partner for our project in Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The objective of the project is to offer the city an entirely new hotel experience: a hotel in the most exclusive hotel segment that will provide a contemporary interpretation of the historical charm of the buildings,” says Dr. Hermann Brandstetter, CFO Bayerische Hausbau.
“We want to enhance the historical part of Munich with a unique hotel concept and open the doors of the buildings, with their unmistakable historical charm, to both international guests and the people of Munich – the restaurant, the bar and the spa will, of course, also extend a warm welcome to Munich’s residents.”
Rosewood Munich will join Rosewood’s distinctive European properties including Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Rosewood London, and the newly reopened Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris. Additional upcoming properties in Europe include Rosewood Vienna, Rosewood Edinburgh, and Rosewood Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London.
