(PRESS RELEASE) PALMA DE MALLORCA,, 2025-Apr-28 — /Travel PR News/ — The Riu Palace La Mola, nestled on the picturesque island of Formentera, has unveiled its newly transformed spaces, stepping into the spotlight as part of RIU’s prestigious Riu Palace collection. This upgrade elevates the hotel from a four-star to a four-star superior rating, aligning perfectly with the island’s serene Mediterranean allure. Its prime location near Migjorn Beach enhances its appeal, making it a highly anticipated destination.

A major milestone in RIU’s legacy, the hotel’s refurbishment was entrusted to brothers Luis and Roberto Riu Rodríguez, the fourth generation of the Riu family. This marks their first full responsibility for a renovation, where they oversaw every detail from the hotel’s design to its equipment and services, resulting in a total style revamp.

Although the hotel’s size remains unchanged, the renovation has reimagined its interiors, optimising space and creating a refined atmosphere that reflects Formentera’s unique charm. The décor draws heavily on Mediterranean influences, offering an exclusive touch that enhances the island’s natural beauty. The focus throughout the redesign was on blending functionality, elegance, and aesthetics to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience.

Notable improvements include the expansion of the lobby, now more spacious and striking thanks to its higher ceilings and bright design. The terrace has been extended to provide panoramic vistas and features a new outdoor performance area, adding a dynamic element to the hotel’s atmosphere.

The 345 rooms, all updated to provide more space and comfort, now offer an even more sophisticated design. The hotel also added more suites, bringing the total to eight, each offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean.

The culinary offerings, a standout feature before the renovation, have been enhanced with the addition of a new à la carte restaurant. There are now three dining options: “Sargantana,” the main restaurant, “Krystal,” the gourmet à la carte choice, and “Ilios,” the seaside snack restaurant.

The fitness center and spa have undergone significant upgrades, along with the solarium, now featuring luxurious Balinese beds. The hotel also boasts a newly designed RIU Land Kid’s club, complete with a children’s pool, raising the total pool count to four.

After nearly five decades since its acquisition by RIU in 1973, the Riu Palace La Mola has been honoured with the Re Think Hotel Award for its sustainable renovation. This includes the installation of solar panels, the use of energy-efficient equipment, geothermal air conditioning, and various eco-friendly measures such as water-saving technologies and waste-reduction initiatives.
