Reaction to AWPR announcement

2012-10-17 — /travelprnews.com/ — Supreme Court judges have today (15th October 2012) given the green light for work to begin on the Aberdeen bypass after throwing out an appeal against the road.

Campaign group RoadSense had been fighting to stop the route from progressing, but today the latest stage in their fight was rejected.

Derek Provan, Aberdeen Airport MD said: “We are delighted to hear that progress on this long-awaited and much needed road has moved closer. The benefits it will bring to the whole region are well documented, and this decision is welcome.

“We are forecasting significant growth at Aberdeen Airport over the coming years, with the aim of bringing in an increasing number of overseas tourists to the area and working to improve our international reach, however without these vital improvements to the local roads infrastructure that growth will become much more difficult to secure.

“The decision taken today is very welcome, and we would like to see progress, particularly work on the airport link road, begin as soon as possible.”
