2014 Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, and World Rally WRC2 Champion, Qatar’s Nasser Al-Attiyah, attend the annual event
DOHA, Qatar, 2014-12-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways proudly sponsored the 2014 Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) General Assembly and Prize-Giving Ceremony held in Doha from December 1–5, 2014, as the global and exclusive airline. The annual event is considered one of the most prestigious events in the motor sport community.
The five-day General Assembly meeting, which has previously been held in Monaco, New Dehli and Istanbul, was capped off with the traditional Prize-Giving Ceremony held at the St. Regis Hotel, Doha, on December 5. The evening attracted some of the biggest names in motor sport, including Lewis Hamilton, Formula One World Champion; Jose Maria Lopez, World Touring Car Champion; Anthony Davidson, World Endurance Champion; Sébastien Buemi, World Endurance Champion, and Nasser Al-Attiyah, World Rally WRC2 Champion.
Champions from every major branch of international motor sport gathered in Doha for the high-profile and glamorous ceremony to receive their awards, after a week of spectacular events that included the FIA Prize-Giving Challenge and Heritage Night, dedicated to the history of automobiles and motor sport.

Founded in 1904 and representing 236 national motoring and sporting organisations from 141 countries, the FIA strives to develop the world of motor sport worldwide through its national clubs, as well as dedicating itself to the rights of motoring organisations and car users; safety, mobility, the environment and consumer law; and promoting the interests of motorists at the United Nations, the European Union and other international bodies.
Additionally, the FIA is the governing body for motor sport worldwide, and administers the rules and regulations for the FIA Formula One World Championship, the FIA World Rally Championship, the FIA World Touring Car Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as for all other international four-wheel motor sports.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operation, to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 142 aircraft to 146 key business and leisure destinations across the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, North America and South America.
