Qatar Airways’ 787 Dreamliner showcased to more than 450 Visitors over four days at the Singapore Airshow 2014
DOHA, Qatar, 2014-2-17 — /travelprnews.com/ — Qatar Airways recorded a runaway success at the Singapore Airshow 2014 where the airline was exhibiting for the first time, attracting more than 450 people over four days for an exclusive tour of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Qatar Airways welcomed hundreds of trade visitors and members of the media onboard its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which was on static display for the first time at the Singapore Airshow. Visitors were introduced to the new, premium aircraft with its unique features such as improved cabin pressure, dimmable windows and a more spacious seating configuration across both the Business and Economy cabins.
The airline also announced on the first day of the airshow that commencing 31 March, 2014, Qatar Airways will be operating a Boeing 787 Dreamliner alongside its existing fleet of Boeing 777s on its Singapore-Doha sector – the carrier’s first route in Southeast Asia to be using the 787 aircraft.
Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker, who met with aviation industry leaders and the media at the airshow, said: “Asia is a very important market for Qatar Airways, and by exhibiting our Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft at the Singapore Airshow we are reinforcing our long-term commitment to Singapore and the rest of this region.
“Qatar Airways became the latest airline to join the oneworld Alliance last October, and through our membership we have been able to offer our customers across Asia greater connectivity and ease of access to the 134 destinations we fly to, as well as the opportunity to experience our world-class, in-flight service,” he added.
Over the next few months, Qatar Airways will continue to invest in new aircraft and new routes as well as move its hub to the new, state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport in Doha. The carrier currently has nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet, with 51 more on order.
Qatar Airways currently operates 14 flights each week between Singapore and its Doha base, and recently celebrated a decade of operations in the island-state.
Held biennially, the Singapore Airshow is one of the most prominent aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world and the largest in Asia.
