(PRESS RELEASE) MASCOT, Australia, 2025-May-30 — /Travel PR News/ — QantasLink is set to launch two exciting new direct routes from Perth to Newcastle and Hobart later this year, offering greater connectivity for travelers and enhanced support for Western Australia’s growing resource sector. The new services will help to further integrate WA into Australia’s broader travel network, providing both business and leisure travelers with convenient, non-stop options.
Commencing in September 2025, QantasLink will be the only airline offering direct flights between Perth and Newcastle. Operating three times a week, the flights will provide over 45,000 seats annually between the two cities, catering to the needs of FIFO (Fly-In-Fly-Out) workers and mining customers, and offering a seamless connection to Western Australia.
For the first time since 2023, QantasLink will also reinstate the direct Perth-Hobart service, operating three times a week throughout most of the year, adding an additional 32,000 seats annually to the airline’s domestic network.
Both routes will enhance connectivity into Perth, the airline’s growing western hub, and provide one-stop connections to a variety of Qantas international destinations, including London, Paris, and Rome (seasonal). The flights will be operated by the Airbus A319, which offers 150 economy seats, ideal for both business and leisure travelers.
Rachel Yangoyan, CEO of QantasLink, said: “We’re excited to expand our services and continue supporting Western Australia’s resource and tourism sectors. These new direct routes from Perth to Newcastle and Hobart will boost tourism and offer more travel options for those in the resources industry, helping to meet growing demand.”
Kate Holsgrove, Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer of Perth Airport, added: “Perth Airport has worked closely with Qantas, Newcastle Airport, Destination NSW, Hobart Airport, Tourism Tasmania, and Tourism WA to enhance aviation connections into Perth, supporting tourism, trade, and economic development. These new services demonstrate Qantas’ ongoing commitment to Western Australia and will provide more travel options for both business and leisure travelers.”
