(PRESS RELEASE) BANGKOK, 2025-May-15 — /Travel PR News/ — The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is excited to announce a new partnership with the SUNx Institute, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed during the PATA Annual Summit 2025 (PAS 2025) in Istanbul, Turkey. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering climate resilience and sustainable development in the travel and tourism industry.
The MOU was signed by SUNx Malta President, Professor Geoffrey Lipman, and PATA CEO, Noor Ahmad Hamid, and aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 17 — Partnerships for the Goals. This goal emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable results, especially in the context of addressing the global climate crisis.
PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid expressed, “We are thrilled to partner with Professor Geoffrey Lipman and the SUNx team, whose dedication to climate resilience and Climate Friendly Travel continues to inspire positive change in our industry. This partnership goes beyond a formal agreement; it represents a mutual commitment to building a sustainable future. By collaborating with SUNx, PATA aims to empower the next generation of travelers to become responsible, resilient, and climate-conscious global citizens, while promoting sustainable tourism practices.”
The focus of the partnership is the Dodo4Kids educational program, an initiative designed to introduce Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) to young learners and their families. Through this collaboration, PATA and SUNx Institute aim to expand climate literacy, instilling sustainability principles from an early age and nurturing the next generation of mindful travelers and changemakers through educational animations and materials.
Professor Geoffrey Lipman shared, “We face growing challenges in a climate-constrained world, and future generations will confront even tougher realities. Dodo4Kids helps prepare young learners to engage in Climate Friendly Travel that responds to extreme weather in a sustainable and nature-positive way. This initiative aligns perfectly with PATA’s vision of a meaningful future for all.”
