New Terminal One at JFK to welcome Qatar Airways operations and debut luxury 15,000-square-foot premium lounge
(NEWS) DOHA/ NEW YORK, 2025-Aug-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways has announced it will relocate its New York operations to the New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport in 2026, where it will also open its first-ever dedicated lounge in the United States. The award-winning carrier, recently named World’s Best Airline 2025 by Skytrax for a record ninth time, plans to debut a 15,000-square-foot premium lounge at JFK that will feature direct boarding access, luxury dining, prayer rooms, children’s play areas, relaxation zones, duty-free shopping, and VIP check-in services for Business Class passengers. The move underscores New York City’s strategic role in Qatar Airways’ global network and reinforces its long-term commitment to expanding its U.S. presence.
The New Terminal One, part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport, is being built to set new benchmarks in passenger experience, with modern design, advanced technology, and world-class facilities. Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the airline is committed to offering its premium passengers a seamless and elevated journey at every touchpoint, from airport transfers to boarding. The New Terminal One CEO Jennifer Aument welcomed the partnership, calling Qatar Airways’ choice a testament to the value the terminal offers international carriers. The project is scheduled to open its first phase in 2026, with full completion expected by 2030, ultimately becoming JFK’s largest terminal at 2.6 million square feet.
