Macao, China, 2019-Apr-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a dialogue session between local youths and Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes at the 7th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as “MITE”) yesterday (27 April). Youth organizations under the tutelage of five of MITE’s co-organizers keenly participated in the genuine dialogue to express their opinions and perspectives on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development, smart tourism and how youths can radiate their strengths, among other topics. Senna Fernandes aspires to create more involvement opportunities for the new generation in tourism-related affairs, listen to their opinions with openness and join them in building a more sustainable future for the tourism industry.
MGTO Director Maria Helena Senna Fernandes as well as Deputy Directors Cheng Wai Tong and Ricky Hoi engaged in face-to-face exchange with close to 80 youths. Senna Fernandes and Ricky Hoi first elaborated on the Office’s work progress of participation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development and pushing forward smart tourism development respectively, enabling young participants to gain deeper insights on the role and direction of the tourism industry and the tasks involved.
The dialogue session ensued and engaged representatives of the youth organizations voicing their opinions enthusiastically. Not only did they proffer views and suggestions on the Greater Bay Area development and application of smart tourism, among other issues, some also expressed concern on ways to participate. The three MGTO superiors each gave their own feedback and revealed stories behind the thought process of certain polices.
In fact, many local youths have involved in various mega tourism events in recent years, from MITE, Global Tourism Economy Forum to the Parade for Celebration of Chinese New Year and more. Senna Fernandes expressed that local youths are hard-driving and full of passion. They deeply care about the society and are specialized in different professions. She is delighted to see youths eagerly participate and help make tourism-related activities happen. With the myriad of possiblities opened up by the Greater Bay Area development and new progress in smart tourism, MGTO will create new opportunities for young people to get involved in different ways, gain richer experience and bring forth their strengths. She looks forward to hearing different suggestions from the young generation and joining hands with them to steer the tourism industry towards a more sustainable future.
