With projects spanning luxury, premium, and extended-stay segments, the company continues to diversify its offerings in response to strong tourism demand. The new developments, alongside recent openings, highlight Marriott’s long-term commitment to Greece and its strategy to expand across key leisure and resort markets.

(PRESS RELEASE) ATHENS, Greece, 2026-Apr-2 — /Travel PR News/ — Marriott International has announced a new wave of expansion in Greece, signing nine new projects that will add nearly 1,000 rooms to its portfolio and introduce two additional brands to the market—Residence Inn by Marriott and Le Méridien. The move reinforces Marriott’s long-term strategy to grow its presence in one of Europe’s most sought-after leisure destinations.

With an existing portfolio of 47 properties and more than 6,000 rooms across 10 brands in 12 destinations, Marriott continues to expand across Greece’s key urban centres, coastal areas, and island locations. The newly signed projects are expected to further strengthen the company’s position while diversifying its offerings across different travel segments.

Jerome Briet highlighted Greece’s strong appeal as a global tourism destination, noting that the latest agreements reflect continued demand for Marriott’s brand portfolio and the confidence of local partners and investors in the company’s growth strategy.

Among the new developments is the planned debut of Residence Inn by Marriott in Athens, a 57-room property designed to meet the rising demand for extended-stay accommodation in the city centre, with an expected opening in 2027. The introduction of Le Méridien to Greece will take place with the 229-room Le Méridien Sissi Crete, bringing the brand’s design-led and culturally inspired hospitality concept to the island’s northern coastline.

Crete remains a focal point of Marriott’s expansion strategy, with additional projects including the 314-room Milatos Marriott Resort Crete, expected to open in 2028. The company is also expanding its presence on the island through the planned opening of The Tenant, Heraklion Crete, a Tribute Portfolio hotel with 40 rooms, scheduled for 2026.

Further island expansion includes Orosea, Paros, Autograph Collection, a 40-room hotel set to open in 2026, joining Marriott’s collection of independent and boutique-style properties. In Zakynthos, the company has signed Hymnos, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, a 94-room beachfront resort expected to open in 2026, offering a high-end experience rooted in local culture and natural surroundings.
