(PRESS RELEASE) BETHESDA, MD, 2025-Apr-30 — /Travel PR News/ — As the United States concludes National Volunteer Month, Marriott International is proud to announce that it has surpassed its goal of 15 million volunteer hours worldwide, achieving 15.6 million hours of community service by the end of 2024—one year ahead of schedule. This accomplishment is part of the company’s commitment to its sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.

Since its founding nearly 100 years ago, Marriott has been dedicated to serving communities around the world. Anthony Capuano, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, expressed his gratitude: “I am deeply grateful to our associates, Business Councils, and owners for the thoughtful and creative ways they have supported their communities. Their commitment to volunteerism has made a profound impact on the places where we live and work. As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we remain focused on continuing this momentum and being a force for good in the world.”

Marriott associates, from properties around the globe and corporate offices, contributed to this impressive achievement through partnerships with nonprofits, volunteer service opportunities, and charity fundraising events. These volunteer efforts focused on creating a positive impact in Marriott’s four key Serve 360 priority areas: Nurture Our World, Sustain Responsible Operations, Empower through Opportunity, and Welcome All and Advance Human Rights.

In times of disaster, Marriott teams are quick to mobilize to support global response efforts. For instance, after Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, hotels in neighboring North Carolina and Florida contributed over 1,700 hours of disaster relief, offering in-kind donations of water, food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and box lunches for cleanup workers. Marriott associates also provided over 15,000 volunteer hours in 2023 to support relief efforts following the Maui wildfires and over 37,000 volunteer hours in response to the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.

In addition to direct volunteer efforts, Marriott has also prioritized several impactful global initiatives, such as the long-standing Check Out for Children (COFC) program. Since its launch in 1995, COFC has raised significant funds for UNICEF, benefitting over 4.5 million children worldwide. Participating hotels in the Asia Pacific Excluding China (APEC), Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), and Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) regions have been instrumental in supporting this initiative.

Marriott’s regional efforts have also made meaningful contributions to local communities:

In APEC, Marriott hotels in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines have partnered with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) to rescue over 440,000 lbs. of surplus food, providing over 800,000 meals to those in need.

In CALA, Marriott hotels have supported sea turtle nesting and release programs for nearly 20 years, helping release over 445,000 sea turtles since 2018.

In EMEA, Marriott hotels have supported organizations like the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership, Magic Breakfast, and the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, along with signature initiatives like Tahseen, which introduces youth to the hospitality industry.

In Greater China (GC), Marriott associates volunteered nearly 60,000 hours in 2024, supporting initiatives like Operation Smile and the Yao Foundation.

In the U.S. and Canada, Marriott hotels have raised over $46 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 2016, and associates in Marriott’s Bethesda headquarters contributed nearly 25,000 hours in 2024 alone.

Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, launched in 2017, guides Marriott’s efforts to support people, the planet, and the communities it serves, solidifying Marriott’s role as a leader in corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
