Marriott and FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS Unveil Plans for 30 City Express by Marriott Properties in Brazil

(IN SHORT) Marriott International and FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS LTDA have signed a multi‑unit development deal to open seven City Express by Marriott hotels in Northeast Brazil, part of a 15‑year plan to establish 30 properties across the region. The announcement, made at a ceremony in Porto de Galinhas, extends the brand’s rapid growth in the CALA region and follows recent launches in El Salvador, Argentina, and the United States. The new hotels—totaling over 750 rooms—include locations in the Suape Industrial Port Complex (Ipojuca), Porto de Galinhas, Natal, Fortaleza, and additional coastal sites, with openings slated between 2026 and 2029. City Express by Marriott, now in five countries with 60+ projects underway, offers modern midscale lodging and access to the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, aligning with Marriott’s strategy to broaden its market reach.

(PRESS RELEASE) PORTO DE GALINHAS, Brazil, 2025-Jul-15 — /Travel PR News/ — Marriott International, Inc. has formalized a landmark agreement with FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS LTDA to introduce seven City Express by Marriott properties in Brazil’s Northeast region—marking the brand’s eagerly awaited debut in the country. This initial tranche of hotels forms part of a broader commitment to develop 30 City Express by Marriott locations across Northeast Brazil over the next 15 years.

A celebratory signing ceremony took place in Porto de Galinhas, attended by regional government dignitaries, representatives of FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS, Marriott leadership, and members of the press.

This expansion builds on City Express by Marriott’s recent momentum throughout the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), where the brand announced entries into El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Peru, and officially launched in the United States earlier this year—with Canada to follow. Today, City Express by Marriott operates in five countries and has over 60 additional projects in its development pipeline.

“We’re thrilled to partner again with FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS to bring City Express by Marriott to Brazil,” said Federico Greppi, Chief Operations Officer for CALA at Marriott International. “This multi‑unit deal underscores our strategy of blending Marriott’s global reach with local insights to deliver dependable, high‑quality accommodations and seamless access to the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem.”

Bojan Kumer, Regional Vice President of Development for CALA, added, “These new signings demonstrate the confidence our owners place in Marriott’s portfolio. Brazil represents a vital growth market, and we see tremendous opportunity to broaden our midscale offerings with City Express.”

Tarcysio Malheiros, Director of FÁBRICA DE HOTÉIS, noted, “We view hospitality as a catalyst for regional development. Bringing City Express by Marriott to the Northeast connects a world‑class brand with the area’s tremendous economic potential.”

The seven upcoming properties will collectively offer more than 750 guest rooms in high‑growth destinations:

Ipojuca, Pernambuco: A City Express by Marriott within the Suape Industrial Port Complex, a major commercial and logistics hub.

Porto de Galinhas, Pernambuco: A hotel in one of Brazil’s premier beach destinations, slated to open by 2028.

Natal and Fortaleza: Hotels in these vibrant capitals, targeting an early‑2028 debut to serve both corporate and leisure travelers.

Cabo de Santo Agostinho and other coastal locales: Further sites earmarked for openings by 2029, catering to a mix of tourism and industrial guests.

City Express by Marriott—integrated into the Marriott Bonvoy family in 2023—focuses on modern, comfortable, and centrally located accommodations at an accessible price point. This strategic regional rollout reflects Marriott International’s ambition to diversify its portfolio and attract new customer segments in emerging markets.
