Manchester Airport sponsors Birmingham Pride for the third year in a row

Manchester, UK, 2019-Mar-20 — /Travel PR News/ — The UK’s third largest airport is making it a hat-trick as sponsor of Birmingham Pride as it returns as the sponsor of the Cabaret Marquee.

For 2019 Manchester Airport is bringing Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays onboard with the Cabaret Marquee transforming into the Los Angeles Cabaret Stage.

As well as stage sponsorship the airport and airline will be in attendance all weekend to join the parade and shout about all things LA, as a new route to the US city launches with Virgin Atlantic on the Sunday of the Birmingham Pride weekend from Manchester.

To mark the sponsorship the airport and airline are today launching a competition for a lucky winner to win a £2,000 trip to Los Angeles with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays.

Seb Thompson, Press Office Manager at Manchester Airport, said:

“It is a real pleasure to be back supporting Birmingham Pride for the third year in a row. It is even more of a pleasure to be bringing Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays with us. We have seen so much support every time we have been down to Birmingham Pride, which is a great way to thank the 1.4m people from the West Midlands who fly from Manchester Airport each year.

“We cannot wait to get back down in May to join the celebrations, in the meantime we wish everyone the best of luck with our competition to win a holiday to LA.”

Mark Anderson, EVP for Customer at Virgin Atlantic, said:

“Virgin Atlantic is committed to being an open and diverse employer and I’m therefore delighted we’re able to support Birmingham Pride. We want to encourage all people to be themselves at work, and events such as this play a crucial role in making that happen.”

Lawrence Barton, Festival Director from Birmingham Pride, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Manchester Airport once again who are bringing Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays with them, the team have shown a great enthusiasm for Birmingham Pride over the past several years and they continue to play an important role as one of our key sponsors.”

This year’s event takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May with tickets available now. Birmingham Pride has taken place since 1997 and to date has raised in excess of £300,000. It is a not for profit organisation, and profits raised go to local LGBTQ charities and projects.

Manchester Airport with more than 28.5 million passengers has over 210 destinations served by more than 70 airlines. With a catchment area spanning as north as Scotland, south to the West Midlands, west to Wales and east to Yorkshire, it continues to add passengers and international routes. In the last few years it has added direct routes to the likes of Mumbai, Beijing, Houston, Los Angeles, Boston and San Francisco.
