MALDIVES, 2015-8-18 — /Travel PR News/ — The 3rd Annual Maldives Whale Shark festival is taking place on the 29th August 2015 in South Ari Atoll, hosted by Maamigilli Island.
We, at Maldives Marketing and Public Relation Corporation (MMPRC) are supporting the 2015 Whale Shark Festival as Festival Partners because we believe that only through shared endeavour can we raise awareness about the conversation and the protection of the Maldives’ internationally renowned marine diversity.
As an organisation in a rapidly developing yet environmentally vulnerable country, it is always a priority for us to support our local island communities in striving towards environmental sustainability.
We believe in the collaborative power of Marine Science and Community Arts to raise awareness for the conversation of our diverse marine ecology and are proud to be supporting The Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (MWSRP) in the continuing development of this unique festival.
We are excited to announce our support for the participation of 7 local islands in this year’s programme and special performance by the incredible Unoosha, who will be a Festival VIP in addition to performing as part of the event finale to help raise awareness of the conversation of Whale Shark’s in the area.
The Whale Shark Festival has, this year been scheduled to coincide with International Whale Shark Day and we are proud to be supporting for a new aspect of the Festival called ScinceFEST. ScinceFEST will take place on the afternoon and evening of Friday 28th August on the Island of Dhigurah. So, in addition to celebrating what is unique about the Marine Protected Area of the South Ari Atoll we will be supporting the Sharing of vital resources and knowledge between Conservationists, Marine Biologists and Educators in the Maldives.
“This is an opportunity to learn more about this incredible creature and by working together, to showcase the outstanding natural beauty and artistic culture of the Maldives to a global audience”. Chole Osbourne, Festival Co-Director 2015.
