There’s still chance for a summer getaway in Bath
BATH, UK, 2015-8-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Make the most of summer days by heading to Bath’s many outdoor events this August Bank Holiday (29-31 August). From car racing to open-air theatre and cinema performances, spend a couple of nights relaxing in the World Heritage City of Bath.
Castle Combe Circuit ‘August Bank Holiday Race Day’
On Monday 31st August, Castle Combe Circuit will see visitors and ‘petrol heads’ flocking to the race track to watch the Castle Combe Championships and Sports Series. Hear the roar of the ‘prancing horses’ of the Ferrari Owners Club and watch the speedy Monoposto Racing Club in action.
Prices are £15 per adult, £10 for concessions and free for under 16s.
Castle Combe Cycle Festival
The Castle Combe Cycling Festival takes place on Sunday 30th August and is a celebration of all things bicycle for the family. Different routes are available for all ages and abilities from the 1.85 mile historical ‘Circuit Lap Challenge’ to the 100 mile route through beautiful Bath countryside.
Price for a ‘Family Cycling Day’ ticket is £5 for adults and £2 for children; price for the intense ‘Severn Bridge Sportive’ ticket is £29 per person.
Live Action Day at Haynes Motor Museum
A fun-filled, hands-on experience at the Haynes Motor Museum Live Action Day (Monday 31st August) includes ‘dream car drives’, sensational drifting displays and a modified car parade.
Entry to the Museum costs £13.95 per adult and the ‘Live Action Day’ event is free with a Museum ticket. A ‘dream car drive’ for 15-20 minutes costs from £59 for a Mustang V8 to £99 for a Ferrari California.
‘The Secret Garden’ at The Manor House
This year’s annual Theatre on the Lawns at The Manor House takes place on Monday 31st August and is ‘The Secret Garden’. Bring a picnic blanket and settle yourself conformably on the grass for the performance. Bring your own food or reserve a picnic hamper in advance; alternatively there will also be a BBQ and drinks available.
Tickets cost £15 for adults and £10 for children and concessions.
Movie by Moonlight ‘Mamma Mia!’
On Sunday 30th August at 8.30pm enjoy a special screening of ‘Mamma Mia!’ under the stars in Royal Victoria Park. Bring a blanket, food (warm clothing just in case) and sing along to ABBA’s greatest hits. 70s fancy dress is welcome!
This is a free event but any funds raised will go towards The Forever Friends Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign.
Style with an edge at the Francis Hotel
A stylish townhouse hotel, the Francis Hotel boasts 98 individually designed bedrooms including ‘counting sheep’ paintings above your bed and Roman Baths walk-in showers, as well as beautiful views over Queens Square.
Rooms cost £440 for two nights excluding breakfast or £540 for two nights including breakfast and free cancellation.
Artistic surroundings at the Abbey Hotel
The Abbey Hotel is a blend of historic character and contemporary rooms and also boasts an Artbar, a display of varied artwork and glamorous loos. Enjoy dinner at their popular Allium restaurant. Recently renovated, the hotel has 60 bedrooms.
Rooms cost £227 per night (room only), or £247 per night (inclusive of breakfast).
A calm oasis in central Bath with Villa Magdala
Villa Magdala is a five-star luxury bed and breakfast overlooking Henrietta Park, just a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Bath’s city centre. It also has its own private car park and serves award-winning breakfasts.
Rooms cost £219 per night including breakfast and on-site parking.
A secluded hideaway at Three Abbey Green
A four-star guest house tucked away in a cobbled square next to the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, Three Abbey Green offers secluded accommodation whilst still being at the heart of the city.
Rooms cost £180 per night including breakfast.
