FRANKFURT, Germany, 2017-Feb-23 — /Travel PR News/ — The world’s most advanced long-haul aircraft doubles in number: Following the first A350-900 flight from Munich to Delhi two weeks ago, the second aircraft is already being welcomed in. This Friday, Captain Georg Obermaier and his crew will transfer the aircraft to Munich from the Airbus works in Toulouse. After the landing at around 11:00, the newest member of the fleet will be welcomed by the fire service with a ceremonial fountain of water. The installation of the new Premium Economy Class section will then be carried out by Lufthansa Technik in Munich. Further training flights are also due to take place, more information on this is to follow. On 14 March, the second A350-900 will take off for Boston as its first flight in scheduled service.
At Airbus the new aircraft carried the production serial number MSN080 and will now fly for Lufthansa with the registration number D-AIXB. The A350-900 is currently the world’s most advanced and most environmentally-friendly long-haul aircraft. It uses 25 percent less kerosene, produces 25 percent fewer emissions and is significantly quieter on take-off than comparable types of aircraft.
In February the first of ten aircraft arrived in Munich to be stationed there. The aircraft has capacity to carry 293 passengers – 48 passengers in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.
