2013-02-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Lonely Planet is adding four brand new titles to its popular Not for Parents series this February, with the release of Great Britain, China, Australia and USA. The books, designed for children aged 8-12, take a fun and informative look at these iconic destinations from a kid’s eye view. Exciting details about each destination’s history, wildlife, sport and culture are revealed through quirky stories, surprising facts, gruesome tales and crazy trivia. The books’ content is also accompanied by colourful and humorous cartoons, photos and illustrations. Inside the books, children can:
– Discover some of Britain’s best inventions, daring fashion designers and medical wonders.
– Learn all about China’s biggest Buddha, most unusual foods and strangest medicines.
– Marvel at America’s eating contests, space missions and beauty pageants.
– Be amazed by Australia’s scariest and cuddliest creatures and awesome Aussie rules football.
Lonely Planet’s publishing director Piers Pickard said, “We’ve selected some of the world’s most exciting destinations, with fascinating cultures, history, people and places, and made them accessible for kids. By taking some of the most quirky elements of each destination and presenting them in a humorous and colourful way, kids will be able to have fun while learning about some of the world’s most interesting countries.”
The titles currently available in the Not for Parents series are The Travel Book, How to be a World Explorer, Extreme Planet, New York, Rome, London and Paris. Great Britain, Australia, USA and China are the first country titles in the series and will be available from February, priced at £9.99 each.
