Kansas City International Airport sees huge 174 percent increase in the passenger traffic in July 2021 YoY

Kansas City, MO, 2021-Sep-01 — /Travel PR News/ — The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that during July, 890,085 passengers traveled through Kansas City International Airport. This was an increase of 174.0 percent compared to July 2020. By comparison, the July 2021 passenger count was 42.5 percent less than July 2019. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 40.5 percent compared to last year with 3,962,415 total passengers handled.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 28.7 percent in July with a total of 22.3 million pounds handled. Year to date, 125.1 million pounds have been handled, up 10.6 percent. Air freight handled at KCI during July amounted to 22.1 million pounds, up 28.7 percent year-over-year. Year to date, air freight is up 11.4 percent with a total of 124.0 million pounds handled. Air mail for July was up 28.8 percent from July 2020 with 210,574 pounds handled. Air mail year to date for 2021 is down 41.1 percent from 2020 with 1.1 million pounds handled.The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for July 2021 was 128. Service was offered to 44 nonstop markets. There was an average of 34,611 arriving and departing scheduled seats in the market each day. The all-cargo carriers reported 7 daily departures for July.
