Jersey to host its annual Food Festival from Friday 23rd – Monday 26th May 2014

JERSEY, 2014-3-7 — /Travel PR News/ — Jersey will host its annual Food Festival from Friday 23rd – Monday 26th May 2014, celebrating the very best of the island’s gastronomic delights. Now in its fourth year, the festival showcases the skill and tradition that lies behind sourcing the local specialities for which Jersey is famous.

Fresh and local are the two words at the heart of Jersey’s thriving food scene, from the iconic Jersey Royal Potato to the bountiful seafood and dairy produce.  The festival will highlight the seasonality, variety and quality of food on the island as well as the talent behind it all.  Events include a Farm and Craft Market at St Aubin, wild food and coastal forages, and much more. Friday 23rd

Genuine Jersey Producer Tour

Behind the scenes farm visits to see the famous Jersey Royal Potatoes and Jersey Cows, plus glorious seafood at the fish merchants.

Visit to Jersey Dairy

A rare opportunity to visit the Jersey Dairy where the delicious Jersey milk products are made. A chance to see and taste its luxury and low fat yoghurts, cream, butter, cheese and ice cream.

Sunday 25th

Wild Food Forage

Come and get lost in the wilds of St. Ouen with guide Kazz Padidar from ‘Wild Adventures’. Take in the fantastic scenery, local wildlife and vast variety of wild edible and medicinal plants that Jersey has to offer from its unique environment.

Cider and Supper at the Elms

Enjoy an early evening al fresco experience in the National Trust’s apple orchard at The Elms. Picnic in the orchard with a glass of traditional cider produced by La Robeleine Cider Company.

Monday 26th

Coastal Forage

Along a stretch of St Ouen’s beach, take in the tide and shore line as you identify edible plants, seaweeds and shellfish. Cooking on a beach fire, you will then prepare the foraged foods and learn about any healthy properties they may hold.

Pop Up Feast at Hamptonne

A rustic and casual affair, experience the thrill of sensational food at a quirky location on the island, the beautiful Hamptonne Country Life Museum in the heart of St Lawrence.

The festival also offers visitors the chance to explore the coast and countryside in the company of chefs, producers, farmers and fishermen.
