Japan Airlines Becomes First Japanese Airline to Register as TNFD Adopter, Pledging Commitment to Nature Positive Initiatives

(IN SHORT) Japan Airlines (JAL) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first airline in Japan to register as a TNFD Adopter, committing to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). JAL’s journey began with its participation in the TNFD Forum in March 2023, followed by its disclosure of information based on TNFD recommendations in August 2023, making it the pioneering Japanese airline in this regard. JAL is dedicated to enhancing its disclosure practices and accelerating efforts to realize Nature Positive, aligning with other early adopters. The airline has been actively involved in initiatives focused on species conservation, ecosystem maintenance, and natural resource preservation, demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability. JAL aims to create a society where nature and people coexist harmoniously through its business activities.

(PRESS RELEASE) Tokyo, JAPAN, 2023-Dec-29 — /Travel PR News/ — Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (President and Group CEO: Yuji Akasaka) has achieved an important milestone by becoming the first airline in Japan to register as the TNFD Adopter(*2), an adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) (*1).

In March 2023, JAL participated in the TNFD Forum and in August 2023, became the first airline in Japan to disclose information based on the TNFD recommendations in advance. Moving forward, based on the final recommendations released in September of this year, JAL is committed to further enhancing its disclosure practices and accelerating efforts to realize Nature Positive(*3) together with all other early adopters.

The JAL Group has been actively promoting various initiatives to ensure the conservation of species through the prevention of illegal wildlife trade, the maintenance of ecosystems through plant quarantine, and the preservation of natural resources at World Natural Heritage sites. These efforts reflect JAL’s strong dedication to passing on a prosperous Earth to future generations.

Looking ahead, JAL will further enhance its existing efforts to achieve Nature Positive and actively work towards building a society where nature and people coexist harmoniously through our business activities.
