(IN SHORT) Japan Airlines has partnered with Lime to enhance last-mile travel solutions across Japan, offering mileage rewards to Lime riders and expanding e-scooter networks in key regions. This collaboration aims to make sustainable micromobility more accessible and reduce traffic congestion, aligning with JAL’s vision for regional connectivity and eco-friendly transport.
(PRESS RELEASE) Tokyo, Japan, 2024-Nov-7 — /Travel PR News/ — Japan Airlines (JAL) and Lime, a leading micromobility provider, have launched a strategic partnership to expand sustainable last-mile travel solutions across Japan. This collaboration, a first between an airline and an electric micromobility provider in Japan, will offer travelers greater flexibility, reduce congestion, and enhance accessibility in urban and tourist areas through Lime’s e-scooters, including both stand-up and seated models. The partnership will initially see Lime’s port network expand to key regions like Naha City in Okinawa, with 40 new ports and 180 e-scooters set for launch.
As part of JAL’s JAL VISION 2030, the airline is moving into the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) sector to support local transportation networks and create deeper regional connections. Through this partnership, Lime riders can earn JAL miles on every ride—1 mile for every 100 yen spent—and benefit from exclusive mileage promotions until December 31, 2024.
JAL will also assist Lime in developing port locations for e-scooter rentals, especially in tourist regions, further promoting easy, eco-friendly travel. Lime’s Country Manager for the Asia Pacific, Terry Tsai, highlighted the partnership’s potential to support sustainable transport in Japan, helping both tourists and residents reduce their carbon footprints.
