CHICAGO, 2012-07-23 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has again partnered with i-formula.com to develop an Apple iPhone version of the terminal maps at Midway International Airport. The app is available now for free through iTunes . Visit the iTunes App Store and enter “airport-maps” in the search field to locate and download the app.
The app allows passengers to virtually navigate through the airport, explore restaurant options, locate restrooms, baggage claim, and many other airport services and amenities. The app does not require a 3G or Wi-Fi connection, or GPS to function, allowing users to access the maps when off line, such as onboard an airplane. The same app for O’Hare International Airport debuted in April 2012.

A new feature has been added to the app that allows users to set their vehicle’s GPS position in parking areas so they can find it easily after their trip. Another new feature lets the flash on the iPhone be used as a torch/lamp to help travelers navigate their way in the dark.
“Just like the app for O’Hare, the Midway iPhone maps help make it fast and easy to explore the airport and locate the many services and amenities at Midway. This app is just one of the ways we continue to work toward Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s goal of enhancing the customer service experience at Chicago’s airports,” said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “We are pleased to now offer this great tool for travelers at Midway so they can plan their trips on their iPhone anytime, anywhere, and without the need of an Internet or Wi-Fi connection.”
Users can also personalize their maps with a “sticky note” function that can be added to the map to denote points of interest for future reference.
The O’Hare and Midway terminal maps will continue to be updated frequently in the future as new concessions, amenities and services come on line.
