Hong Kong International Airport awarded “Best Airport in China”, “Asia Pacific Airport of the Year – Industry Choice Award” and “Hong Kong Star Brands Award 2014 – Enterprise”

HONG KONG, 2014-11-13 — /Travel PR News/ — The outstanding services and facilities of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and unfailing efforts of the airport community have been repeatedly recognised by local and regional industry and the general public. HKIA was recently named “Best Airport in China” by travel magazine Business Traveller China, “Asia Pacific Airport of the Year – Industry Choice Award” by the air cargo industry publication Payload Asia, and won a “Hong Kong Star Brands Award 2014 – Enterprise” nominated by local organisations.

Vivian Cheung, Deputy Director, Airport Operations of Airport Authority Hong Kong said, “We are very pleased and honoured to have received these awards, which are a great recognition from both the industry and the public. They represent the collective effort and dedication of 65,000-plus airport staff working closely together to provide service excellence. With a number of medium- and long-term development plans in the pipeline, we will continue enhancing our facilities and deepening the airport’s service culture to meet growing aviation demand.”

HKIA clinched the “Best Airport in China” accolade from Business Traveller China for the eighth time in the past nine years. Readers participating in the publication’s annual online survey voted for their favorite airport, hospitality organisations and airlines that provided enjoyable and hassle-free experience during their journeys. Since the magazine launched its annual reader poll in 2005, HKIA took home the same award in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

On the cargo front, HKIA was recognised as the “Asia Pacific Airport of the Year – Industry Choice Awards” at the Payload Awards 2014 which was organised by air cargo industry publication Payload Asia. Awardees were selected by an industry panel based on criteria including cargo growth and development strategy, operational performance, customer service, product innovation, competitive cost structures and services. This industry recognition has reaffirmed HKIA’s ongoing commitment to service excellence and to maintaining Hong Kong’s position as a leading international and regional aviation centre.

Locally, HKIA received the “Hong Kong Star Brands Award 2014 – Enterprise” jointly organised by the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Productivity Council. Decided by a judging panel of community leaders, the award commended HKIA for its services and reputation.
