(NEWS) ATHENS, 2025-Nov-10 — /Travel PR News/ — Hilton is strengthening its presence in Greece’s flourishing hospitality market with the announcement of Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay, a new luxury resort set along the scenic Peloponnese coastline and expected to open in 2029. The agreement with Royal Group Holding marks the debut of the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand in Greece, expanding Hilton’s luxury portfolio to yet another Mediterranean destination known for its rich history and natural beauty.
Set against the backdrop of the Peloponnese — a region celebrated for its dramatic landscapes, ancient ruins, and sun-drenched beaches — the resort will offer 121 guest rooms and suites, each designed to provide panoramic sea views and a sense of tranquil sophistication. Guests will experience the hallmark Waldorf Astoria service, complete with personal concierges, elegant amenities, and bespoke touches that reflect the brand’s long-standing reputation for timeless luxury. The property will also feature 13 exclusive branded residences, offering the privacy of a home paired with Waldorf Astoria hospitality.
“We’re thrilled to be announcing our first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Greece — a destination that perfectly complements the brand’s legacy of timeless elegance and refined luxury,” said Dan Wakeling, Vice President of Development, Luxury & Residences, EMEA at Hilton. “This debut marks a significant milestone for Hilton as we continue to rapidly expand across Greece, where we now have more than 60 hotels trading and pipeline under eight brands.”
The upcoming resort will include indoor and outdoor pools with breathtaking views of the Aegean, a full-service Waldorf Astoria Spa, tennis courts, a fitness center, and a kids’ club. Culinary highlights will include the signature Peacock Alley, a beach club restaurant, lobby lounge, and café — each designed to showcase Mediterranean flavors and the resort’s coastal setting.
Hilton’s expansion into luxury destinations like Scarlet Bay follows a wave of growth across Greece, including the January 2024 opening of Hilton Garden Inn Athens Syggrou Avenue, the brand’s first Garden Inn property in the country. Located near the Acropolis and the lively Kallithea neighborhood, the Athens property introduced Hilton’s upscale yet affordable brand to Greece, offering 129 contemporary rooms, a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city, and amenities designed for both business and leisure travelers.
David Kelly, Hilton’s Senior Vice President for Continental Europe, noted at the time of the Athens opening, “We are thrilled to introduce Hilton Garden Inn to Athens, a city that continues to grow as a major global destination. This hotel brings a new level of hospitality to the area, offering visitors a blend of history, culture, and modern comfort.”
By combining luxury developments like Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay with lifestyle-focused openings such as Hilton Garden Inn Athens Syggrou Avenue, Hilton is solidifying its position as a leading player in Greece’s hospitality landscape. From city stays in Athens to coastal retreats in the Peloponnese, the group continues to cater to a growing demand for high-end, experience-driven travel across the Mediterranean.
