Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport announces two projects as part of their sustainability efforts

Partners needed for two major projects

ATLANTA, 2016-Mar-16 — /Travel PR News/ — As part of their ongoing efforts to create the most sustainable airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) officials today publicized two projects currently out to bid.

“We plan to augment our sustainability program and incorporate it into everything we do at the Airport,” ATL General Manager Miguel Southwell said today. “Completing these two projects will put us on the path of being one of the most sustainable airports in the world.”

Green Acres ATL Energy Park

ATL officials released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to construct a state-of-the-art, onsite, composting and recycling facility. The successful applicant will lease up to 30 acres of land from the City of Atlanta to design, construct, finance, operate, and maintain the facility. The Green Acres ATL Energy Park will repurpose, reprocess, and/or recycle at least 90 percent of domestic municipal solid waste generated at ATL. The facility will also process chipped yard trimmings from the City’s Department of Public Works.

The bus must be zero-emission and capable of operating for 14 hours a day without interruption. It may be recharged through a conductive charging system.
