- More than 400 veteran cars expected to take part in total with 114 international entries
- Gatwick to offer spectators vouchers for free tea and coffee plus rare photograph opportunity with veteran car
- Gatwick sponsorship also provides economic boost for businesses on Crawley High Street
GATWICK, UK, 2018-Nov-05 — /Travel PR News/ — Gatwick’s partnership with the Bonham’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run – supported by Hiscox – brings the event to Crawley High Street for the third year in a row and will help support town centre businesses by encouraging thousands of residents and visitors to attend.
The Veteran Car Run will see around 400 veteran cars make the journey down to the south coast and Gatwick will be providing spectators in Crawley High Street with a rare opportunity to have their photograph taken behind the wheel of a static veteran car.
Visitors to the event this Sunday 4 November will also receive vouchers for free tea and coffee. Drivers of the veteran cars will also be offered travel sweets and Gatwick branded seat cushions as they pass by the airport’s stand.
Crawley residents play a vital role keeping the airport open and running 24 hours a day with around a third of the 24,000 workforce on the airport living in and around the town.
Gatwick also plays an important role supporting the local economy and provides a £2.7 billion contribution to regional GDP and supports around 40,000 jobs across the region.
Proposals set out recently in Gatwick’s draft master plan would not only protect these existing jobs, but could also potentially generate a further 8,000 on-airport jobs and £2 billion of economic benefit.
The event is taking place on Sunday 4 November with the first cars due to arrive in Crawley High Street at around 8.15 am and the last car leaving around 1.45 pm.
Gatwick Airport’s Community Engagement Manager, Melanie Wrightson, said:
“We are proud to once again be partnering with the Bonhams Veteran Car Run supported by Hiscox, in what is sure to be another exciting event for everyone participating and spectating.
“Our sponsorship is part of Gatwick’s community engagement programme which allows us to share some of the benefits the airport generates with our local communities. Our new draft master plan has some exciting proposals to grow the airport so that we can continue offering these benefits, and 8,000 new on-airport jobs, to local communities for generations to come.”
Miles Wade, Chairman of the Veteran Car Run Steering Group Committee commented:
“We are delighted that London Gatwick is joining us for the third year running, they really bring the spectator and participant experiences alive at Crawley High Street.
