Early in 2025, the airlines plan to enhance frequent flyer benefits, launch joint fare products, and potentially coordinate schedules and sales initiatives to support tourism and economic ties between Indonesia and Singapore.
(PRESS RELEASE) Singapore, 2024-Nov-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have announced an increase in flight frequencies between Jakarta and Singapore, set to take effect in late 2024, to enhance connectivity between these two major Southeast Asian cities. Starting November 22, SIA will expand its daily flights from six to eight, while Garuda Indonesia will raise its daily services from four to six on December 1.
The airlines will extend their existing codeshare agreement to cover these additional flights, increasing their codeshare operations to 390 weekly services, including 362 between Singapore and various Indonesian destinations. They currently codeshare on flights between Singapore and multiple Indonesian cities, as well as select international routes.
In early 2025, Garuda Indonesia and SIA plan to deepen their partnership further by enhancing frequent flyer benefits, allowing GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare routes. Following regulatory approval for their commercial joint venture, the two carriers will also launch joint fare products for routes between Singapore and Indonesian cities like Denpasar, Jakarta, and Surabaya, providing customers with a seamless booking experience for travel on both airlines.
Looking forward, Garuda Indonesia and SIA aim to explore joint revenue-sharing flights, coordinated schedules for improved connectivity, and collaborative sales and marketing activities to support business, tourism, and economic activities in both Indonesia and Singapore.
Mr. Irfan Setiaputra, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, highlighted the importance of this expansion, emphasizing the increased connectivity it offers to passengers traveling to Asia and Europe through SIA’s network. Mr. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, noted the partnership’s value in boosting tourism and economic ties, with both airlines committed to building on this collaboration in the years ahead.
