Expanded Qatar Airways–China Southern partnership boosts access from China to over 170 destinations worldwide

(NEWS) DOHA, Qatar, 2025-Sep-8 — /Travel PR News/ — Qatar Airways and China Southern Airlines have expanded their codeshare partnership and increased frequencies on routes between Doha and Beijing Daxing, strengthening connectivity ahead of China’s Golden Week travel period. From 16 October 2025, Qatar Airways will codeshare on China Southern’s three weekly non-stop flights between Beijing Daxing and Doha, while China Southern will extend its “CZ” code on Qatar Airways-operated services to 15 destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including Barcelona, Cairo, Madrid, and Munich. This builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year and deepens a partnership that has already seen Qatar Airways codeshare on China Southern’s Guangzhou–Doha services since 2024.

The expansion gives Chinese travellers greater access through Doha’s Hamad International Airport to more than 170 destinations worldwide. China Southern will also extend its code to Qatar Airways’ flights connecting Doha with Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, subject to government approval. With these additions, Qatar Airways and its partners China Southern and Xiamen Airlines will operate 64 weekly flights across eight gateways in Greater China, one of the most extensive networks in the region. Leaders from both airlines hailed the move as a milestone in global aviation partnerships, with Qatar Airways CCO Thierry Antinori calling it a demonstration of “long-term commitment to the China market,” and China Southern CEO Han Wensheng highlighting Beijing Daxing’s growing role as an international hub.
