(PRESS RELEASE) Dubai, UAE, 2024-Dec-8 — /Travel PR News/ — Emirates has announced the renewal of its longstanding partnership with Tennis Australia, extending its role as the Official Airline of the Australian Open until 2029. This new five-year agreement comes alongside a commitment to support local communities in Australia through the airline’s ‘Force for Good’ programme, partnering with the Australian Tennis Foundation (ATF) to uplift disadvantaged youth across the country using tennis as a platform for social change.
Expanding Beyond the Court with Community Initiatives
As part of the renewed partnership, Emirates will invest $2.25 million over five years to launch the ‘Force for Good’ initiative, which aims to introduce tennis to children from underprivileged backgrounds in five key Australian cities. The initiative will offer free tennis programs that promote both physical and mental well-being, helping children develop life skills such as resilience, teamwork, and social connection. The program will play a vital role in fostering a sense of belonging among disadvantaged youth, offering them opportunities they might otherwise miss.
Barry Brown, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President Australasia, emphasized:
“This partnership demonstrates our deep commitment to Australia. We’re not just focused on the Australian Open, but on making a tangible difference in communities by providing disadvantaged youth with opportunities to learn through tennis and grow in a supportive environment.”
Elevating the Australian Open Experience
The airline’s presence at the 2025 Australian Open will be marked by a range of exciting activities, including the return of its renowned hospitality suite, which will feature five European destinations such as London, Paris, and Rome. This year’s suite will reflect neoclassical European architecture, with a menu inspired by top European cities. In addition, Emirates will continue its sponsorship of the AO Ballpark, which will open on Kids Tennis Day on 11 January, featuring interactive games and the Emirates Explorers and Little Traveller zones.
Exclusive In-Flight Experiences for Tennis Fans
Emirates’ flights will also celebrate the Australian Open 2025 with special branding, including themed menus and in-flight entertainment. Tennis fans can catch live matches onboard via Sport 24, and Emirates A380 lounges will feature broadcasts, ensuring that passengers don’t miss a moment of the action. Additionally, Skywards members can enjoy exclusive hospitality tickets to the Grand Slam event, with access starting at 30,000 Miles.
Emirates and the Australian Open: A 20-Year Legacy
Emirates has been a proud partner of Tennis Australia for over 20 years, having first launched services to Melbourne in 2004. Over this time, the airline has flown more than 5 million passengers and contributed nearly 250,000 tonnes of freight to and from Australia. With its expanded role and new community initiatives, Emirates continues to support Australia’s rich tennis legacy and to enhance the Australian Open experience for players and fans alike.
This long-term partnership underscores Emirates’ commitment to connecting people globally, supporting social impact, and offering exceptional experiences for tennis enthusiasts.
About Emirates’ sponsorships in Australia
With sponsorships spanning literature, film, art, culinary, music festivals and globally renowned orchestras, Emirates is dedicated to supporting the growth and reach of cultural activities in Australia and around the world.
Beginning with the sponsorship of Collingwood Football Club in 1999, Emirates has gone on to sponsor various sports teams and events in Australia, from the Australian Open to Australian Rules Football, as well as becoming Partner of the Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane in 2022. Emirates is passionate about connecting communities and bringing the world together through sport.
Outside of sports, last year Emirates further solidified its commitment to supporting arts and culture in Australia by extending its 21-year partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra until 2025. A cornerstone of its ongoing support to music and arts around the world, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra is the airline’s longest-running non-sports partnership.
Emirates also proudly sponsors the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, including its recent exhibition, taypani milaythina-tu: Return to Country. The partnership saw Emirates transport a precious Aboriginal object from Paris to Tasmania, 230 years after it was first removed. The artefact, a rikawa (kelp water carrier), is only one of two known to be in existence, and its new home at the museum will allow the Tasmanian Aboriginal community to reconnect with their cultural history.
