Recent expansions include summer routes to Palermo and Almeria and winter services to Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Verona—totaling 85 destinations. (PRESS RELEASE) BRISTOL, 2025-Aug-5 — /Travel PR News/ — Bristol Airport and easyJet are commemorating a major milestone as the airline surpasses 80 million passengers carried to and from Bristol since launch. To celebrate, easyJet treated two unsuspecting travellers—Kate Sibbald and Alex Coomber from Cardiff—on their flight to Geneva to a surprise prize of return tickets for two to any destination across the easyJet network.

easyJet first began operations at Bristol Airport in May 2001, debuting services to Faro, Majorca and Nice. In August 2002 the airline established a permanent base there, and in June 2025 the arrival of its 19th Bristol-based Airbus A320neo underscored ongoing strong demand from the South West. This summer also saw easyJet inaugurate routes to Palermo and Almeria, and launch four winter services—Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Verona—bringing its total Bristol connections to 85 destinations across the UK, Europe and North Africa.

Mike Kane, Aviation Minister, commented: “It’s fantastic to see leading British airline easyJet reach this incredible milestone which means travel opportunities for passengers are continuing to grow at Bristol Airport. The continued investment from easyJet and the airport in the South West is expanding trade and tourism in the region, boosting economic growth, and supporting jobs across the UK.”

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, added: “We’re delighted to have flown over 80 million passengers since 2001. The new aircraft strengthens connectivity and supports skilled local jobs, reflecting our commitment to the South West and inbound tourism. Our unrivalled short-haul network and easyJet Holidays package continue to offer customers greater choice and value.”

Dave Lees, Chief Executive of Bristol Airport, said: “Reaching 80 million easyJet passengers is a remarkable achievement that showcases our two-decade partnership. As home to 19 easyJet aircraft and thousands of local employees, we’re proud of the extensive route network and the locally-designed components onboard their quieter, more efficient Airbus jets. We look forward to growing our offering and enabling millions more travellers to fly from their local airport.”
