Dusit Thani Manila Brings Back the Christmas Tree Contest Now On Its 3rd Year

Makati, Philippines – 2012-11-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — The most-awaited season of the year is just around the corner. Setting the bar higher year after year after year, Dusit Thani Manila is excited to bring its guests another truly memorable and meaningful Christmas celebration this 2012.

After the successfully-staged Christmas Tree Contests in the past two consecutive years dubbed as “Unity in Diversity” with Ms. Tessa Prieto-Valdes as grand winner in 2010 and “The Family Tree” with The Cruz Family as grand winner in 2011, this year’s theme focuses on children, the world’s hope for the future.

Dusit Thani Manila believes that one of the best ways to see Christmas is through the eyes of a child. With this year’s theme dubbed as “A Hundred Voices. Ten Hopes. One Christmas Story.”, the hotel wishes the world to know how Christmas is defined by these little children through their creative, young hearts and minds.

The participating schools, which will be represented by its Grade School students and faculty, include De La Salle Santiago Zobel, Everest Manila, German European School, Mahatma Gandhi International School, MGC New Life, Miriam College, Paref Southridge, Singapore School Manila and Divine Healer Academy in Cabid-an, Sorsogon. Each will provide their very own symbolic Christmas Tree which will be on exhibit at the main lobby of the hotel from November 15 until December 28, 2012.

HOW TO VOTE

To make this event more meaningful, the chance to make their favorite beneficiary happy this Christmas is also in their hands. The top three winning Christmas Trees will receive a cash prize which will be donated to the winners’ chosen charity. There are two ways to vote. One is by clicking LIKE on the Fan Page of Dusit Thani Manila then click LIKE on the photo of choice. Another way is by casting votes through ballot forms. Guests will be entitled to one ballot for every purchase worth P500.00 at Dusit Thani Manila.

CHRISTMAS TREE MECHANICS

There are only two specifications for each Christmas Tree. First is the size, which has to be 10ft in height and maximum of 6ft in diameter. Aside from the size, each Christmas Tree has to use one recycled material. Dusit Thani Manila has recently received a Silver Certification from EarthCheck for its green initiatives. Partnering with educational instiutions themselves, Dusit Thani Manila believes that this is one of the most efective ways to teach the world how to care for Mother Earth. And that is to teach the children first and foremost the wonders of recycling.

“A HUNDRED VOICES. TEN HOPES. ONE CHRISTMAS STORY”.

A Hundred Voices. Not only will a hundred voices gather to share the message of Christmas through their Christmas Tree; But also, a hundred of them will share their gift of music as they render Christmas carols at the hotel lobby on the 15th of November in time for the Christmas Tree Lighting, to be performed by children from Singapore School Manila, MGIS, Miriam College, MGC New Life, De La Salle Santiago Zobel and Everest Manila. While on some nights of December, one school per evening will perform at the hotel lobby at six o’clock in the evening. Below is the schedule:

December 16    Miriam College
December 17    Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS)
December 18    Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS)
December 19    Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS)
December 20    De La Salle Santiago Zobel
December 21    MGC New Life

Ten Hopes. This will be represented by ten Christmas Trees participated by Dusit Thani Manila and nine Grade Schools – their vision and advocacies; their students and what they will and can become; the children being tomorrow’s hope for a better world.

One Christmas Story. Each Christmas Tree may possibly have a different story to tell. It may be to look back and remember the birth of Jesus Christ or the anticipation of Santa Claus on the eve of Christmas. It may be about the gifts and carols and family gathering for noche buena.  There may be different interpretations and perceptions about the most-celebrated season of the year. Fact is, Christmas is all about giving. Giving of one’s time, efforts, resources, love and care. The Dusit Thani Manila’s Christmas Tree Project Year III wishes to extend all of these through this initiative in high hopes that hearts will be moved, souls will be touched and actually change lives. This is our Christmas Story.
